As a hotter-than-expected inflation report rocks markets, it's good to zoom out a bit 🔭

In the wake of falling energy prices and anecdotes of retailers discounting, markets were hoping the August consumer price index (CPI) would confirm that inflation was continuing to cool.

Unfortunately, the report disappointed.
